We’re looking at Procrastination. This is the most common client issue of all. And I’m going to show you one great way to coach it, which always gets results. “Other priorities”, “things getting in the way”… You know the excuses, you’ve heard them before and you’ve probably used them before. But your client doesn’t need your sympathy. They’ve come to you because they want change, and that’s what they’re going to get. So procrastination is all about putting things off, even though you know you should be doing them. It’s all about deferring action, and the coaching goal is to get them to take action. Whatever their past patterns, they can and will change them NOW! Information is power. And you need to share some with them now. So tell them that there are basically 4 main reasons why somebody will procrastinate: 1. Arousal 2. Apathy 3. Avoidance 4. Fear
