Happiness

Happiness is subjective. For some, it may be euphoria. For others, it’s closer to contentment. It’s going to be different for each of us, and it’s relative to our own progress through life. The trick is to have it come to us more often, and sustain it for longer. It’s about having a happy disposition. But it is not possible to maintain a constant level of happiness. In order to know happiness we need to know sadness too. Being happy doesn’t mean the absence of pain, loss and sadness. One is impossible without the other. Without the lows, there can be no highs. Anything pleasurable that we over-indulge in will eventually become the new normal, and can even become boring. Happiness is, to some degree, a moving target.
